On June 11, President of the Republic of Abkhazia Raul Khadzhimba gave a speech at a reception in the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Abkhazia on the occasion of the Russia Day.
Dear Aleksey Arkadyevich! Dear colleagues!
In the modern history of the friendly Russia, June 12, 1990, has become a day of importance and political significance. On this day, the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Russian Federation was adopted. This significant event became another confident step on the way of the development and strengthening of the Russian statehood and the consolidation of all nations that connect their historical path with the destiny of Russia and with its outstanding achievements.
On the centuries-old path of its revival, Russia has encountered big difficulties and dramatic shocks. Yet, Russia continues to defend its national interests with honour and dignity by strengthening its military and defence capability and implementing large-scale projects that provide the solution to the military and strategic and socio-political tasks of the highest priority.
Despite the attempts of some international forces to hinder the participation of Russia in the global processes, it was and continues to be one of the main players in the international geopolitics.
After the recognition of the independence of the Republic of Abkhazia by the Russian Federation, the relations between the two states entered a qualitatively new stage of development. The provisions of the Russian-Abkhazian Agreement “On alliance and strategic partnership” that have defined the framework of our cooperation are being gradually implemented. The program of the socio-economic support of the Republic of Abkhazia is being successfully implemented.
On this festive day, I would like to sincerely congratulate all people of the friendly state and to wish all Russian citizens good health, happiness and further successes!
