On November 22, President of the Republic of Abkhazia Raul Khadzhimba had a meeting with the co-chairmen of the Geneva Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Daur Kove presented to the Head of State the Co-Chairman of the Geneva Discussions from the UN Cihan Sultanoglu, OSCE Special Representative for the South Caucasus Rudolf Michalka, and the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Toivo Klaar.
The President greeted the guests and also gave an assessment of the negotiation process.
“We understand that not everything can be achieved at once. Yet, there are certain issues that should be understood in many European states. The norms of international law are not only for some countries. We also have the right to live, develop and communicate with the outside world. However, there is still little understanding that Abkhazia is a state that has a necessity to interact with the world community. This is why we raise humanitarian issues at this negotiation platform, such as the possibility of foreign travel of our citizens and the representation of our position in different international organisations”, - said the President.
The guests remarked that it is possible and necessary to develop new approaches for a more effective use of the Geneva Discussions platform.
