On October 11, President of the Republic of Abkhazia Raul Khadzhimba gave a congratulatory speech at a festive meeting of the Ministry of Defence on the occasion of the Day of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Abkhazia.
Dear friends! Fellow commanders and soldiers!
The armed forces of Abkhazia have been and continue to be the guarantor of the national security of our state. We can say with confidence that our army is ready to repel external threats.
Our army increases its combat effectiveness, develops its professional skills and qualifications. The staff of the armed forces of the republic is growing thanks to the young military specialists who study in the universities of the Russian Federation.
The armed forces of Abkhazia were created in the most difficult conditions of heavy fighting for the liberation of our Homeland from the Georgian aggressors in 1992-1993. The soldiers who are currently serving in the Abkhazian army will inherit the military experience, courage and self-sacrifice that were demonstrated by many of our glorified heroes of the Patriotic War of the People of Abkhazia.
At the foundations of the creation of our armed forces, its main institutions and the Ministry of Defence of the republic was our outstanding leader, founder of the independent Abkhazian state Vladislav Ardzinba.
The key to the further strengthening of the defence capability of our state is successful military and technical cooperation of Abkhazia with the friendly Russia which is supported by a number of strategically important agreements.
I sincerely congratulate the people of Abkhazia and our brave defenders of the Homeland on this wonderful holiday – the Day of the creation of the armed forces of the Republic of Abkhazia!
