Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev expressed condolences to President of the Republic of Abkhazia Raul Khadzhimba in connection with the tragic death of Prime Minister Gennady Gagulia.
The telegram states, in particular:
“Dear Raul Dzhumkovich,
On behalf of the Government of the Russian Federation and myself, I would like to express deep condolences in connection with the tragic death of Prime Minister Gennady Gagulia as a result of a road accident.
I would like to especially point out the significant personal contribution of Gennady Leonidovich to the development of friendly and partnership relations between Russia and Abkhazia. Working as head of the government and as co-chairman of the Intergovernmental Committee for socio-economic cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Abkhazia, he prioritised the current issues of bilateral cooperation and the promotion of joint investment and humanitarian programs.
We share in the heaviness of this loss. I would like to ask you, dear Raul Dzhumkovich, to convey words of condolences and support to the friends and relatives of Gennady Gagulia”.
