On September 4, President of the Republic of Abkhazia Raul Khadzhimba arrived in the Syrian Arab Republic with an official visit.
The Head of State was welcomed in the airport by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Syrian Arab Republic Walid al-Muallem.
In the course of the negotiations, President of the Republic of Abkhazia Raul Khadzhimba and President of the Syrian Arab Republic Bashar Assad plan to discuss questions of bilateral cooperation, and also questions of development of the Abkhazian-Syrian relations.
The delegation of the Republic of Abkhazia headed by the President includes Prime Minister Gennady Gagulia, Head of the Administration of the President Beslan Bartsits, Secretary of the Security Council Mukhamed Kilba, Minister of Foreign Affairs Daur Kove, Minister of Defence Mirab Kishmaria and Minister of Economy Adgur Ardzinba.
As a result of the negotiations, it is planned to sign a Treaty on friendship and cooperation between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Syrian Arab Republic, an intergovernmental Agreement on the creation of a Joint Syrian-Abkhazian Committee for economic, trade, academic, technical and cultural cooperation, and also an intergovernmental Agreement in the field of assistance and development of trade and economic cooperation.
