On August 7, President of the Republic of Abkhazia Raul Khadzhimba held a meeting on the issues of the current situation in the Gagra District. The meeting was held in the building of the Gagra District Administration.
The Head of State stressed that the budget indicators are at an unsatisfactory level. The President said that the main problematic spheres in the district are tax collection, the energy sector, sanitation and illegal construction.
Head of the district tax inspection Georgiy Agrba said that in the first six months of 2018, performance indicators in the tourist sphere are at 81%. He expressed confidence that in the course of August and September the situation will improve. Georgiy Agrba remarked that in the past few years, there have been significant land tax and VAT debts.
Minister of Taxes and Duties Daur Kurmazia listed the main steps undertaken by the Ministry to improve the accounting and reporting of the companies and also to increase the tax base due to a more complete inclusion of taxpayers.
The Head of State stressed that it is necessary to streamline the collection of payments that are owed to the state in accordance with the law.
Head of the Administration of the Gagra District Gennady Sichinava informed the President about the measures undertaken together with the district electric networks and the branch “Energosbyt” of “Chernomorenergo”, in order to increase the collection of payments for the use of electric power. At the meeting, additional steps to improve the situation in this field were also discussed.
During the meeting, the President instructed the Head of the District Administration, the Prosecutor’s Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs to take under strict control the compliance with construction regulations on the territory of the district.
The Head of State also asked about the measures to improve sanitation in the city and district. Gennady Sichinava reported to the President that in the near future, the frequency of removal of household waste will be increased.
The President stressed that all specialised institutions should be solving the emerging issues faster.
