The Head of State greeted the participants of the forum.
“Today young people are becoming actively involved in the lives of our states. It is truly great to consider oneself a young leader, to organise youth movements that aim to change the situation in our states and to improve many things. A leader is someone who decided to lead the people and who fulfills promises together with his or her followers and does everything for the sake of the state. Needless to say, people with such qualities can solve difficulties. There are a lot of issues in which our young citizens can and should have an influence. Today’s world requires this inclusion of young people in politics. One of the outcomes of this would be the creation of conditions for more business opportunities for young people. The state, on its part, should create all the necessary conditions to unite young businessmen with small and medium-sized businesses. However, the young generation should also contribute to the state to ensure its development.
Our country is going through a difficult period. However, we have the experience of 25 years of postwar state-building. Those international facts of recognition that we have today give us reason to say that we are on the right path. Russia gives us support and creates favourable financial and economic conditions. I said many times that we need the help of a friend, yet at the same time, we should try to become a successful and independent state.
Abkhazia could use help from Russia in the development of the main directions of the economy of our Republic. These are, of course, tourism and agriculture. Thanks to them, our economy can grow.
Without doubt, young people should also participate in all these processes. Today I can say with confidence that in the system of government, there are a significant number of young people. They actively work, and they are involved in different institutions and occupy fairly high positions like, for example, our Minister of Economy. They are young people who understand well why they work and they are ready to bear responsibility for their work. I am sincerely happy that both in Abkhazia and Russia, there are young people who are ready to work for the benefit of our states. In Abkhazia, we have the State Committee for Youth Policy, the Council of Young Diplomats, and all of them are actively involved in different spheres. Young leaders should grow and develop so that in the future, power could be given to them. I am certain that it will happen.
Relations with Russia are important to us. Russia is our main strategic partner and the first state to recognise us. We should become successful as a state so that the Russian Federation and the entire world would see that everything happening in the last years was not in vain. After the events of August 2008, Russia found itself in a difficult situation. Recently, Syria recognised our independence. Syria is fighting against the entire world, and only Russia is standing by its side. Syria was an important player in the region. Unfortunately, the situation is different there today. Syria was not afraid to recognise Abkhazia and South Ossetia. For now, other states will not do the same, but we are not trying to be recognised by the entire world at once. Together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the leadership of Russia, we will achieve success. In conclusion, I would like to wish us all success, increasing cooperation, and of course, the victory of the Russian national team at the World Cup”, - said the President.
Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs Ekaterina Dragunova spoke to the participants of the forum about the main fields of the youth policy in Russia and the joint projects of Abkhazian and Russian youth, particularly in the sphere of business.
“I would like to thank you for supporting young people and our joint projects. I am confident that our work will be continued with twice the force”, - she remarked.
Chairman of the State Committee for Youth Policy of the Republic of Abkhazia Teymuraz Kvekveskiri spoke about the main directions of the youth policy of Abkhazia. He remarked that the Russian Federal Agency for Youth Affairs willingly shares its experience, which the State Committee uses while taking into account the particularities of the Republic of Abkhazia.
Chairman of the Russian Youth Union Pavel Krasnorutsky told the President about the successful participation of the delegation of the Republic of Abkhazia in the International Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi, and also about the organisation’s projects. He proposed to create the Abkhazian-Russian youth tourist centre, in order to increase the flow of tourists to both states.
Deputy Chairman of the Council of Young Diplomats of the Russian Foreign Ministry Areg Agasaryan thanked the President for supporting the participation of the Council of Young Diplomats of the Abkhazian Foreign Ministry in the International Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi. He also discussed the spheres of cooperation between the Councils of Young Diplomats of Abkhazia and Russia.
Chairman of the Council of Young Diplomats of the Abkhazian Foreign Ministry Inar Ladaria shared via video conference his experience of participating in the International Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi and thanked the organising committee for productive work.
At the forum, a number of initiatives to strengthen cooperation in youth policy between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation have been voiced, in particular, the creation of a youth parliament in Abkhazia and cooperation with an analogous institution in Russia, the holding of a charity soccer match between Abkhazian and Russian volunteers and the establishment of a competition “Leaders of Abkhazia” based on the Russian analogue.
The President supported the initiatives that have been proposed. He also remarked that they are the opportunities for young people to participate in the life of the state.
