On June 8, President of the Republic of Abkhazia Raul Khadzhimba had a meeting with a delegation from the Bashkir State Medical University.
Raul Khadzhimba welcomed the quests and remarked that many Abkhazian citizens studied at Bashkir State Medical University.
“Our young people become good specialists, and I have no doubt that it will continue to happen”, - said the President.
The Head of State said that the signing of an agreement between the Abkhazian State University and the Bashkir State Medical University will bring benefits and will allow to create conditions for teaching medicine at the Abkhazian State University in the future.
Rector of the Bashkir State Medical University Valentin Pavlov thanked the President for the cordial welcome. He stressed that the people of Bashkiria have always felt great respect for Abkhazia.
“It is the first time we are in Abkhazia on an official visit. We are impressed by the improvements of the past years that happened in your country”, - Valentin Pavlov shared his impressions.
Rector of the Bashkir State Medical University remarked that the members of the delegation visited the Republican hospital and that they were positively impressed by the order and discipline there, and also by the fact that there are many young specialists working there.
He also said to the President that he is planning to carry out an operation together with Abkhazian doctors.
Valentin Pavlov said that in Bashkiria, just as in Abkhazia, there is a problem of understaffing in district hospitals and clinics.
“In our country, people also want to work in the centre, but no one wants to work in district clinics. We understand that conditions should be created to change the situation”, - said Raul Khadzhimba.
Minister for Health of the Republic of Abkhazia Tamaz Tsakhnakia informed that an agreement on cooperation has been signed between the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Abkhazia and Bashkir State Medical University. As part of this agreement, it is planned to hold short courses for doctors using the conference system and video broadcasts.
“We also discussed the possibility of developing medical tourism and a number of questions of common interest”, - added Tamaz Tsakhnakia.
At the end of the meeting, Raul Khadzhimba and Valentin Pavlov exchanged memorable gifts.
