On August 17, President Raul Khadzhimba presented the new Minister for Internal Affairs Aslan Kobakhia to the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
While introducing the new Minister for Internal Affairs, the President remarked that the work which was being done under the leadership of the former Minister will be continued.
“I think that this person is as well-known in the Ministry as Leonid Yurievich. After the war, they have worked together. I do not doubt that past work will be continued and will be even more effective”, - said Raul Khadzhimba.
The Head of State stressed that there is a lot work ahead of them and that many difficult problems have to be solved.
“We cannot postpone any tasks. I would like you to understand that the Ministry of Internal Affairs is at the forefront of all processes taking place in Abkhazia”, - said the President.
Raul Khadzhimba pointed out the most important aspects in the work of the Ministry. According to the President, fighting against drug trafficking is one of the priorities.
“A drug distributor is one of the most serious criminals. The fight with this category of people should take place at the highest level. This will be one of the tasks of the Ministry and all of its employees”, - said Raul Khadzhimba.
The President also stressed that the Ministry’s personnel policy should be more well-defined. It should be based strictly on professionalism.
Raul Khadzhimba also remarked that one of the main tasks of the new Minister and the Ministry’s employees is to control the situation on the roads. The President pointed out that the situation has deteriorated lately, since the number of road accidents increased.
“In a short period of time, too many lives have been lost as a result of road accidents”, - said the President.
Raul Khadzhimba emphasised that there should be no politics in the work of the Ministry and that all forces should be used to solve the existing problems.
“I would like you to fully participate in the work and I hope that we will do everything to create order in our state”, - said Raul Khadzhimba.
The Head of State also said that Leonid Dzapshba will continue working in governmental structures, but in a new capacity.
Former Minister for Internal Affairs Leonid Dzapshba thanked his colleagues for their work and congratulated Aslan Kobakhia on his appointment.
Aslan Kobakhia thanked the President for the trust. He stressed that he knows how responsible his work is and that he will make every effort to solve the tasks assigned to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
