President Raul Khadzhimba held a working meeting on questions, related to visa-free entry to Abkhazia for certain categories of foreign nationals.

First Deputy Head of the Administration of the President Dmitry Shamba informed the participants of the meeting that in April of this year, a law came into force, which allows the Head of State to establish unilaterally a visa-free regime of entry to the Republic of Abkhazia for foreign nationals.

“The Administration of the President examined the proposals on the visa-free regime, which were presented by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Resorts and Tourism, Internal Affairs, the State Security Service and the State Migration Service”, - remarked Dmitry Shamba. He remarked that the Administration of the President considered the proposals and prepared a draft Decree, which provides for the establishment of a visa-free regime for the following categories of foreign nationals:

- foreign natioanals–sightseers, entering Abkhazia as part of an organised tour group for a period not exceeding twenty four hours;

- citizens of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Kazakhstan, entering Abkhazia for tourist purposes for a period not exceeding two weeks;

- foreign nationals, entering Abkhazia to eliminate accidents, do repair and maintenance, as well as commissioning works on the energy system facilities for a period not exceeding five days;

- foreign nationals, entering Abkhazia to work on the electricity generation facilities, situated on the territory of the Gal District and the Tkuarchal District.

The draft Decree “On the establishment of a visa-free entry into the Republic of Abkhazia for certain categories of foreign nationals” was approved by the participants of the meeting.
