At the end of the negotiations, Raul Khadzhimba and Rustam Minnikhanov participated in the extended meeting with the delegation from the Republic of Tatarstan, in the course of which the most promising directions for cooperation between the Republic of Abkhazia and Tatarstan have been discussed.
Those present at the meeting included Speaker of Parliament Valeri Bganba, Prime Minister Artur Mikvabia, Head of the Presidential Administration Astamur Tania, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Astamur Appba, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Serikov, Minister of Economy Adgur Ardzinba, Minister of Agriculture TimurEshba, Minister of Resort and Tourism Avtandil Gartskia, Adviser to the President Amiran Lagvilava, President of the Chamber of Commerce Gennady Gagulia, Head of the Administration of the city of Sukhum Adgur Kharazia, and Head of the Administration of the Ochamchira District Khrips Djopua.
The delegation from Tatarstan to Abkhazia included Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation FatikhSibagatullin, Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan and Minister of Agriculture and Food Marat Akhmetov, Assistant to the President of Tatarstan Leila Fazleeva, Minister of Economy of Tatarstan Artem Zdunov, First Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade RuslanKabirov, Head of the Investment Development Agency Taliya Minullina, representatives of ministries and agencies, and heads of businesses.
While opening the meeting, Raul Khadzhimba expressed certainty in the fact that cooperation between Abkhazia and Tatarstan would be taken to a new, modern and mutually-beneficial level. “We are ready to do everything necessary to assist in this process”, - said the President.
He emphasised that the government will assume the task of creating guarantees of safety for property and investments. “These questions cannot be and will not be dependent on political conditions. We are interested in the stable and long-term cooperation with our partners”, - added the Head of State.
Raul Khadjimba pointed out the tourist sphere, agriculture, transport and logistics infrastructure, including seaports, airports and railroads as the main directions for cooperation.
“Certainly, one of the priorities for us is inviting investments and increasing the business activity in the Eastern regions of Abkhazia. They have a big unrealised potential”, - said Raul Khadzhimba.
The President of Tatarstan highly praised the opportunity to develop cooperation between the two republics as part of the relations between Russia and Abkhazia.
Rustam Minnikhanov noted that the main purpose of his visit to Abkhazia is the expansion of trade and economic, scientific and technical, as well as cultural cooperation. “The delegation of our republic includes the heads of ministries and agencies, as well as representatives of the leading companies of Tatarstan. We hope that in the course of the visit, businessmen from Tatarstan and Abkhazia will find new directions for cooperation and we will agree on common projects”, - he added.
Rustam Minnikhanov expressed hope to see an increase in the volume of trade between the two republics. “Unfortunately, we are not using all the existing opportunities. We should activate our economic interaction”, - remarked the Head of State. Minnikhanov agreed with the President of Abkhazia that the main directions for common work is the agro-industrial complex, tourism, IT technologies, healthcare, transport, education, and science.
The President of Tatarstan remarked that such visits should be systematic in nature. “We actively develop our international and foreign trade connections, and we will be glad to expand the interaction with the Abkhazian business. We have a lot of plans and we are ready to share them with you. Tatarstan is open for you, and it is ready to work in all directions”, - he added.
In the course of the extended meeting, the economic opportunities of Abkhazia and Tatarstan have been presented.
As part of the work visit, the delegation will visit a number of businesses, including a milk factory in Sukhum and a greenhouse complex in the Ochamchira District. The delegation will also examine from a helicopter the seaport in the city of Ochamchira, farmlands and the factories “Zarya” and “Argonavt” in the city of Tkuarchal.
