The President Raul Khadzhimba met the body of active functionaries and the public of Pitsunda.
The Speaker of People's Assembly – Parliament Valeriy Bganba, the Minister of tourism Avtandil Gartskiya, the Head of the Administration of Gagra district Beslan Bartsits and the Head of Administration of Pitsunda Chingiz Bigvava, the member of People's Assembly – Parliament Beslan Gubaz were also present to the meeting.
Opening the meeting, Chingiz Bigvava told the President about the main socio-economic problems of Pitsunda. He noted the importance of changing budget relations between the town of Pitsunda and Gagra district and proposed to strengthen the role of town assembly in manpower policy of the administration of the town.
«Pitsunda has always been a visit card of Abkhazia, it has an enormous potential, but, unfortunatelly, it is not used to the full scale», underlined the President at the beginning of his speech. He informed the audience that he instructed to create a workgroup to analyse and study main problems of the city and tourist suite, which has already started its activities and is about to present its proposals in the nearest future.
The head of state noted the importance of forming the full-scale economy and increase of own incomes by means of internal reserves. Despite the financial difficulties, the state does not refuse to implement its obligation to increase salaries in budget sphere, and in many districts, including Gagra, the increased salaries are paid by means of own resources since the beginning of the year.
Raul Khadzhimba also disposed the rumors about supposedly planned sale of Union of pensions “Pitsunda resort”. “We cannot let ourselves squander state property, especially the one that generates profit for our budget”, said the President.
Raul Khadzhimba commented on the situation around Pitsunda temple. “This temple and organ is famous abroad. The issues that the Church brings up should also be considered, because Pitsunda temple is one of the most ancient orthodox temples on the territory of Abkhazia. Legally the concert halls is ascribed to the balance of the Ministry of culture and protection of historical and cultural inheritance. The opinion of the population of the town of Pitsunda has to be considered when making any decisions related to the organ and organ hall”, said the President.
Raul Khadzhimba also mentioned the burning issue of seizure of lands and arbitrary illegal construction on the territory of Pitsunda. “As a head of state I will not let self-willed seizure of land”, said the President.
