President of the Republic of Abkhazia

November 27, 2014, lake Ritsa. The President of the Republic of Abkhazia Raul Khadzhimba participated in special tactical exercise conducted with the aim of improvement of the organization of management and international cooperation of the Ministries for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Abkhazia and Russian Federation.

In the course of the exercise conducted in the area of lake Ritsa, rescue of people injured as a result of the traffic accident in mountainous area was worked off. Aviation, cutters and other special equipment was used during the exercise.

Raul Khadzhimba thanked the staff of the Ministry for Emergency Situation for their work. High professionalism, clear understanding of the tasks and love to their job are evident”, he noted.

The minister for emergency situations of Abkhazia Lev Kvitsiniya noted that close relations between Abkhazian and Russian ministries were established and that they promote increase of the level of preparation of rescuers and provide MES of the Republic with modern technical facilities.

Deputy Head of the central administrative board of the MES of RF on Krasnodar region Andrey Popov and deputy head of the south regional search and rescue squadron of MES of Russia Yuri Zemlianskiy told the President about newest rescue technologies and demonstrated specialized emergency rescue techniques. They also underlined the importance of cooperation with Abkhaz colleagues, because it gives opportunity to effectively cooperate during emergencies. There is a number of successful examples of this cooperation that saved lives of people.

The joint exercise was implemented within the framework of interministerial arrangements between the Ministries for Emergency Situations of Abkhazia and Russia.

The President of the Republic of Abkhazia Raul Khadzhimba highly evaluated the exercise and announced his support for further development of Abkhaz-Russian cooperation in this field.
