February 20, 2015, Sukhum. The President of the Republic of Abkhazia Raul Khadzhimba met the representatives of the Abkhazian diaspora – entrepreneurs and businessmen – living in Moscow.
The Speaker of People’s Assembly – Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia Valeriy Bganba, the Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Abkhazia Astamur Taniya, the minister of economy Nikolay Achba, the Member of Parliament Zaur Mikvabiya, the Adviser of the President Amiran Lagvilava and the representatives of Abkhaz diaspora Beslan Agrba, Edgar Gvazava, Beslan SHakaia, Vladimir Bigvava, Garri Delba and Anzor Djugeliya took part in the meeting.
“I hope that our conversation will let us build such relations that would be useful to our state. Your personal participation and your knowledge and experience could be implemented not only in Russia, but also integrated into the processes of economic development of Abkhazia and, with our common efforts, shift the situation in the country”, noted the President, welcoming the participants of the meeting. He informed that he issued an instruction to start activities on elaboration of the concept of economic development of Abkhazia and noted the importance of inclusion of Abkhaz businessmen living in Moscow into this process.
During the course of the meeting new opportunities for the development of the economy related to removal of customs barriers between Russia and Abkhazia, policy of import substitution and usage of the resources of the Investment agency created in Russia for assistance to the real sector of the economy of the republic. The participants of the meeting underlined the importance of creation of positive image of Abkhazia among potential investors.
The participants of the meeting voiced support for the creation of the permanent format of interaction of diaspora with the leadership of Abkhazia.
The representatives of diaspora expressed their readiness to participate in elaboration of plans of development of the economy of Abkhazia.
