President of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhaniya visited the COVID-Center which was established on the basis of the Gudauta district central hospital.
The Head of State was accompanied by Minister of Health Tamaz Tsakhnakia and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance Vladimir Delba.
Aslan Bzhaniya examined the working conditions of the hospital and visited all departments including the section where COVID patients in severe conditions are being treated.
The President inspected the progress of equipping a special room with a computer tomograph and talked to the specialists involved in its installation.
Aslan Bzhaniya held a meeting with the medical staff. The Head of State addressed the doctors with a request to speak openly about the problems existing in the hospital. “I am asking you to do this not because I don’t trust somebody, but because you are at the frontline of the fight against this illness and know better than anybody else about the state of things”, - said the President.
Chief doctor of the hospital Khadzharat Shamba informed the Head of State about the state of things in the hospital. He remarked that at the moment, the COVID-Center manages to treat patients. However, the chief doctor stressed that taking into account the emerging trend of a sharp increase in the number of cases, additional places must be prepared.
Minister of Health Tamaz Tsakhnakia explained that in all hospitals of Abkhazia, additional places will be prepared for the treatment of COVID patients.
The President instructed Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance Vladimir Delba to pay the salaries first of all to the staff of the Gudauta hospital in priority order.
Aslan Bzhaniya also said that the delay in additional payments is unacceptable. The President thanked all medical staff for their selfless work and instructed the Minister of Health to choose the most outstanding workers for additional grants from the state.
