On September 12, Press Secretary of the President of the Republic of Abkhazia Naala Avidzba held a briefing on the results of the President’s visit to the Kabardino-Balkar Republic and the Republic of Adygea.
Good day, dear colleagues. Yesterday, the President returned home after visiting Kabardino-Balkaria and Adygea.
In the course of these foreign visits, which the President made at the invitation of the Heads of the republics to participate in official events, Raul Khadzhimba held a number of meeting with the leaders of North Caucasian republics and volunteers from Kabardino-Balkaria and Adygea.
One of the main aspects of the visit was meeting and conversing with the volunteers, veterans of the Patriotic War of the People of Abkhazia, and their families. During the discussions, issues of social character were raised, to solve which the representatives of the volunteer movement need support. The President is certain that all of them should be supported, as far as the state can. Today’s possibilities do not allow doing this as fully as it is needed by our brothers and their families. Yet, those efforts that are already being made aim to give maximum attention to the families of the fallen soldiers and the persons disabled in war.
Volunteers and their families asked for the Abkhazian state institutions’ support in issues of acquiring the citizenship of the Republic of Abkhazia, registration of documents for receiving pension payments and documenting of the already purchased housing or land. Questions were raised concerning the assistance to the volunteers living in the republics of North Caucasus, such as isolated cases of particularly difficult life situations.
During the meetings, the President emphasised many times that Abkhazia should and will help those who shed blood for its freedom.
The Head of State and the representatives of the volunteer movement confirmed the necessity to continue a regular dialogue and agreed to do so, and to also organise regular meetings with the leadership of the republics of North Caucasus, in order to make sure that the cares and needs of the volunteers are known to the leadership of the republics. There are already results of this work. The President received assurances from the leaders of all republics of North Caucasus, with whom there was an opportunity to talk on the day of the inauguration of Murat Kumpilov, that they are ready to cooperate with the veterans of the Patriotic War of the People of Abkhazia and that they will help them in social and other matters.
During the visit, the President discussed with the representatives of the business circles of the republics of North Caucasus and the government of the Russian Federation the possibility of using the infrastructure of seaports for the export of agricultural products of the Russian Federation through Abkhazia. The President was assured that these questions will be considered.
Besides, representatives of big businesses of North Caucasus expressed their readiness to invest in tourism in Abkhazia. It is impossible to talk about this in more detail yet, but this is one of the positive results of the foreign visits of the Head of State.
Ways to strengthen relations were discussed with all leaders of the republics of North Caucasus. At the meeting with the leaders of Adygea, Kabardino-Balkaria and the volunteers, a thorough exchange of views and suggestions took place, in order to organise regular events in the near future. In particular, the representatives of the volunteer movement noted their readiness, with the assistance of Abkhazia and the leadership of the republics themselves, to celebrate the Victory Day and the Volunteer Day not only in Abkhazia but also in the republics of North Caucasus. Also, possible events in the cultural, humanitarian, youth policy, sports and others spheres were discussed.
Taking into account the readiness to increase interaction on the part of the North Caucasian leaders, it can be said that the President of Abkhazia sets before the state structures of the Republic the tasks of implementing past agreements in practice.
